Microsoft has chosen to replace the power cords on Xbox consoles manufactured before October 23, 2003 or before January 13th, 2004 in continental Europe. The power cords are being replaced due to component failure in a small number of consoles - fewer than 1 in 10,000 - has caused burning inside the console or melting of the power cord where it connects to the console. Microsoft has designed the replacement power cords to protect you and your Xbox from these component failures and a potential fire hazard.
Visit Xbox.com and follow the details on there, you'll require the manufacture date and serial number from the bottom of your console and will need to visit the appropriate section depending on the country of purchase. You will then be able to check if a replacement if needed and if one is, you'll be asked for shipping details for Microsoft to send a free replacement cord.

XNA for Final Fantasy? - 2004-05-22 04:10:40 |

At a recent interview, when asked about Xbox Live, Square Enix president, Yoichi Wada said that Xbox Live is not the direction Square Enix wants to take gaming. But later in that same interview, Wada-san also revealed that Square Enix stands exactly the opposite on XNA, Microsoft's new graphics software bridging Windows and Xbox. Wada-san said, "However, the thinking behind the recently announced XNA is extremely similar to what we have in mind. With that meaning, we'll have to from now on discuss XNA, rather than Xbox 2 and such."
Take it for what it's worth, but if Xbox keeps getting software updates like this, the future looks bright for Xbox fans who want a taste of Final Fantasy.

Microsoft employees had recently leaked some information on the new and upcoming Xbox-2 console. The new console will not have the hard drive its predecessor has. Instead it will be powered by three IBM-designed 64-bit microprocessors. Microsoft's main goal for the new console is to have a low manufacture cost as well as to have fast and high-quality graphics. Xbox-2 will be using ATI graphic chips instead of the NVidia technology used in Xbox. As for memory, Xbox-2 is scheduled to have 256 MB-- which may double, depends on the spec of its upcoming market opponent PS2. Xbox-2 also may not be competible with Xbox software due to the various differences in technologies used. So far, the scheduled release date for Xbox-2 is around autumn 2005.
